Hangers- When choosing a hanger for your new gutter look for a strong hanger. We use a self bracing gutter hanger this will allow the hanger to hold up the extra weight of snow and ice in the winter time so the gutter does not bend.
Hanger Spacing- Now that you have a stringer hanger to ensure it never fails we install our hanger every 12 inches on center every time.
Gutter Sealant- Sealing the back side of the gutter that is mounted to your trim wi ensure no posture can get behind the gutter and rot the fascia.
Stainless Screws- We did not always use stainless screws for many years we used zinc screws and over the years they showed a lot of corrosion. We found just after a few years many of our gutter installs had rusted screws. So we decided to change everything over to the best option screw which is stainless, this has eliminated a ver avoidable problem.

Ice & Snow
Snow and ice is one of the main reason stopping a lot of homeowners from installing gutters on their home. We recommend talking about this a lot if you have any concerns. Gutters do not help your home from getting ice damns but it is not the leading reason for ice damns. It's been our experience that a lot of ice dams happen because a home has heat loss melting the snow on the roof of homes.
One leading issue we have sound with gutters we have installed on home in Southern Maine is the snow that is piled up around downspouts. This causes the water that is draining from the gutter to freeze and if ignored long enough it can back up the entire gutter system. We recommend you keep all downspouts off the ground 4 to 6 inches and make sure you shovel out around downspouts and never push snow against the downspouts.
