Pvc / Vinyl / Composite Board

Its called many different things but what it comes down to is you don't have to paint it or worry about rot. Now if you want to paint the boards you can it takes paint just like other wood trim boards it just doesn't absorb the paint like wood so we recommend not a heavy paint or applying it to thick. Use a latex middle of the road paint and apply 2 coats depending on how dark the color is. This product is more challenging to install because of the board being so dense it is very heavy so having extra hands is better if you are going to install a composite board. We only will install composite trim when all of the trim is coming off because you can not mix this with wood because it contracts and expands at a greater rate than wood.

Fascia Replacement

Part of our discovery process during our free estimate is to look for and to option and possible fascia rot. Most of the time homeowners tell us before we meet with them but we always try to discover those things before the project starts. Things we look for are as follow

  • Existing wooden gutters
  • Older spike and ferrel gutters
  • Neglect

These are the most common issues we see when it comes to fascia rot. If you have existing wooden gutters we always option the fascia because it almost always expected to have some rot at the ends or corners. Spike and ferrel gutters are the older aluminum gutters that have the long spikes that come loose and allow water to penetrate the nail holes and lead to rot. Lastly is just neglect of the trim, if you have wood trim you need to scrape and paint it every 5 to 7 years on average if not the boards will rot.

Wood Fascia

Wood fascia is the most common material used on fascia trim. The easiest to install and comes pre primed and some treated so insects will not penetrate the board. We recommend if you have minimal trim to replace to use wood because mixing other composites may cause gaps. Pre-primed lumber will be a little bit cheaper for material cost over a PVC board and can be painted to any color.
